E-Commerce

The latest survey “IZV10” presented by German ECC Handel in 2011 established that “paying over the Internet” for online purchases was not in itself a major obstacle for consumers. Rather, the main stumbling blocks were not being able to see and check the goods beforehand, fear of dubious suppliers and a lack of shopping experience. While 40.7 percent (2008: 64 percent) of the respondents had already had negative experiences “buying over the Internet”, only 9.2 percent had had problems “paying over the Internet” (2008: 22 percent).

Delivering trust for e-commerce

The security systems installed by the credit card industry contribute towards consumer trust in card-based payments. Especially for online payment methods in e-commerce, security is a sensitive issue. Postbank P.O.S. Transact GmbH’s risk management staff monitors trends in the e-commerce sector and continually optimize the company’s own prevention and security systems. To maximize Internet payment processing security, the credit card organizations have developed additional security procedures of their own, including  the card verification code, 3D-Secure technology and PCI DSS.
